TCW (The Car Workshop) has been providing honest, professional vehicle servicing and repairs in Johannesburg since 2005. We are an owner-managed independent workshop committed to quality workmanship, transparent advice and outstanding customer service for all makes and models of vehicles.

 

Our Story

The Car Workshop was established in 2005 with a simple vision—to provide motorists with honest, reliable vehicle servicing and repairs backed by professional workmanship and personalized service.

After many years working in the motor industry, founder Carlos Freire recognized that many customers were looking for a workshop where they could have complete confidence in the advice they received and the quality of the work carried out. This inspired him to establish an independent workshop built on the principles of honesty, integrity and transparency, where every repair would be recommended because it was genuinely needed and completed to the highest professional standard.

From the very beginning, our goal has been to build lasting relationships through trust rather than transactions. We believe in explaining repairs clearly, discussing available options and ensuring customers understand the work being carried out before it begins.

Since opening our doors, The Car Workshop has earned the trust of private motorists and fleet customers alike by consistently delivering quality workmanship, technical expertise and personalized service. Today, we continue to invest in modern diagnostic equipment, training and technology to ensure every vehicle receives the highest standard of care.

 

Our experience

 

The Car Workshop is led by Carlos Freire, whose career in the motor industry spans more than 40 years.

Carlos began his career as a qualified BMW technician, receiving factory training and gaining extensive experience within the BMW dealer network before moving into the highly specialized world of BMW Motorsport.

As one of the technicians involved with BMW Motorsport, he worked on championship-winning touring cars, where precision, reliability and attention to detail were essential. He later expanded his expertise into high-performance engine building and dyno tuning with Rob Green Motorsport.

This wealth of experience has provided an in-depth understanding of modern vehicle systems, advanced diagnostics and complex mechanical repairs, knowledge that is applied every day at The Car Workshop.

Today, every vehicle that enters our workshop benefits from decades of technical experience, continuous training and a commitment to doing the job correctly the first time.
